A Muslim island in the Catholic Poland

Eastern Poland

The community of Lipka Tatars, located in eastern Poland —whose origins date back to Ottoman Empire— is like a Muslim island in the Catholic Poland land.

Due to over 500 years long influence of Polish culture and tradition, their religious rituals differ to those of Muslims in other parts of the world, preserving this cultural identity thanks to the Tatar spirit and the organizations that give support.

Below, photos taken around Kruszyniany and Bohoniki, in Eastern Poland, main settlements of this waning crescent community.
